Mystery of a ‘missile’ rider in a Laois town

Cllr John King said a capsule that has been converted from an e-scooter "goes like a missile" around Rathdowney.

THE identity of an unknown man who converted his e-scooter into a ‘capsule’ that ‘goes like a missile’ has locals in Rathdowney flummoxed.

Cllr John King told his colleagues at the April meeting of Laois County Council that a mystery e-scooter rider has turned his e-scooter into a “capsule.”

“You see him out on the road. You see a red light coming, and a red light going. That’s all. And no sign of the driver. It goes like a missile,” said cllr King.

“Is it a time capsule,” asked cllr Tommy Mulligan to which cllr King replied: “If it was and keeps going the way he’s going, he’ll be heading to the clouds very shortly anyway. He can’t be identified and he won’t stop,” said cllr King.

“Nobody knows who he is. You’d think he is on Mars by the time you look and the speed he passes at. He converted his e-scooter into a small capsule.”
