New company facility in Laois set to employ 50 people

Kirby Group Engineering located in the N7 National Enterprise Park in Portlaoise is set to employ 50 people by the end of next year.

A LEADING mechanical and electrical engineering contracting company is creating 50 jobs at its recently opened newly built facility in the N7 National Enterprise Park in Portlaoise.

The new €8 million off-site manufacturing facility for Kirby Group Engineering will be key to the continuing growth of the company as it manufactures a range of components for projects across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

Over 20 people are already working at the Portlaoise facility and the company expects that figure to reach 50 by the end of next year.

The team there provides fabrication, welding, engineering and building information modelling services. It also features a dedicated cleanroom to facilitate high purity pipework.

Components built at the Portlaoise plant will be transported to sites across all jurisdictions that Kirby operates in.

The new building also houses office space and a dedicated apprentice training facility, which will allow for classroom-based and practical education. The company is currently supporting more than 200 apprentices through their four years of training.

Founded in 1964 in Limerick, Kirby Group Engineering is a leading mechanical and electrical engineering contractor operating across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, and directly employing over 1,800 highly-skilled professionals.
