Over 100 young people in Laois and Offaly in postcard campaign to TDs

Young people in Laois joined just under 5,000 others from around the country to sign their names to an open post-card calling on their local TDs to support young people when putting together the up-coming Budget.
From the 4,891 people nationally who signed their names to the postcard 115 were from the Laois/Offaly constituency. The young people in Laois have told the five TDs in the constituency Barry Cowan, Brian Stanley, Seán Fleming, Charlie Flanagan and Carol Nolan that there is a need for €15 million to be ringfenced for youth work in Budget 2025.
Organisers of the postcard campaign the National Youth Council of Ireland said the initiative will help to raise awareness and build the momentum needed to ensure that young people and youth work get the attention and investment they deserve.
The postcard to the five TDs in Laois/Offaly reads:
“We’re your constituents, and we’ve signed this postcard to ask you to take a stand for young people in Laois/Offaly and beyond. By 2025 there will be over one million under-25s in Ireland but they need meaningful support."
"Please take whatever action that you can to make sure young people are supported in Budget 2025 with an investment of an additional €15 million in youth work. Your representation could make all the difference.”
