Popular businessman passes away
Martin Mullins
A popular and well-known Athy businessman has passed away this week.
Martin (MD) Mullins of Church Crescent, Athy passed away on Wednesday on Cloverlodge Nursing Home.
Originally of Ballygurteen, Paulstown, Co Kilkenny, Martin came to Athy and started working with PL Roche.
He took over the business and started MD Mullins insurance brokers on Emily Square and moved to Leinster Street.
Martin was very involved with local groups including Athy Rugby Club, Athy Golf Club and Athy Lions Club.
He was a founding member of Junior Chamber in the town.
He was loyal, trusted friend to many and extremely popular in the town.
Martin predeceased by his parents and his sister Mary. He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Frances, his daughters Lorna and Karen and his son John, his five grandchildren, Hannah, George, Paul, Daniel & Aoife, his daughter in law Sinead, son in law Rory, his brother Pat, sisters, Eilish, Winnie & Helen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
