Portlaoise Court: Laois man accused of rape and threats to kill

A LAOIS man came before Thursday’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court on charges of rape, threatening to kill and assault causing serious harm to a woman.
The 38-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the identity the alleged victim, was charged with two counts of threatening to kill or to cause serious harm on 1 and 9 June 2024, with rape on 9 June and 2 November 2024, with assault causing harm on 1 and 2 November 2024 and with assault causing harm on 9 January this year.
All of the offences are alleged to have taken place at an address in Laois.
Judge Susan Fay remanded the man in custody to 10 April for service of a book of evidence.
