Portlaoise hotel raises almost €11,500 for charity

The Midlands Park Hotel team presents the big cheque to Terry Connolly, Friends of Suicide Loss

A PORTLAOISE hotel raised almost €11,500 for a deserving charity over the festive season, with a special Dine Out and Donate campaign.

Staff at the Midlands Park Hotel were thrilled with the total raised for Friends of Suicide Loss, which provides support services for people affected by devastating suicide deaths.

During the busy Christmas social season from the beginning of December, €1 from every meal at the Kelly’s Steakhouse and Charter Bar and Eatery in the hotel went to the charity, raising a remarkable €11,496.

A Midlands Park Hotel team that included Aaron Lane, Shauna Boxwell, Derek Donovan, Austin Delaney and Vanessa Langford presented the cheque to Terry Connolly from Friends of Suicide Loss at a presentation in the hotel.

The Dublin-based charity provides a range of support services for people bereaved by suicide, including one-to-one and group counselling, educational programmes, publications and workshops.

The Portlaoise hotel is part of the Neville Park Hotel Group, which spearheaded a Christmas Community Donation Initiative in three of its hotels, two in Wexford and one in Laois. In total, the Dine Out and Donate initiative raised €21,736 for charities selected by hotel employees.

Colm Neville from the hotel group said: “We are delighted with the incredible results of this programme supporting such meaningful causes. It embodies our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve and championing the issues our teams are passionate about.”
