Preparations begin for this year’s Electric Picnic

It is anticipated that up to 80,000 people will attend the event each day.
EP Republic has given notice of its intention to apply for a licence to hold this year’s outdoor musical event, Electric Picnic, at Stradbally Hall Estate from Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 August.
It is anticipated that the formal application will be lodged with Laois County Council within the next two weeks.
The festival has grown in huge numbers and in popularity and has become the biggest music festival in Ireland since the first one-day event was held on Saturday 4 September 2004 when over 10,000 people flocked to the estate of Stradbally Hall.
This year the festival organisers say that early entry camping will be open for up to a maximum of 40,000 people from Thursday 28 August at 2pm and the anticipated number of audience attending the event will be 80,000 people each day.
In its notice of intention, it said that general camping and car parking will be provided on adjoining lands from Friday 29 August at 7am to Monday 1 September at 4pm. General campervan will be open from Wednesday 27 August at 12 noon to Monday 1 September at 4pm. Family campervan will be open from Thursday 28 August at 2pm to Monday 1 September at 4pm.
The application for the licence may be inspected at the offices of Laois County Council during office hours or online at www.laois.ie for a period of five weeks from the date of receipt of the application by Laois County Council.
Any submissions or observations may be made to Laois County Council within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of the application by Laois County Council.
