WITH summer underway and the sun splitting the trees, there’s never been a better time to hop on a bike! Bike Week 2025 is rolling into Laois from Saturday, May 10 to Sunday, 18 May 18, and with over 50 fun-filled, free events taking place across the county, it is a sure way to celebrate the many benefits of cycling.

From family treasure hunts and heritage tours to mountain biking taster sessions and safety workshops, Bike Week 2025 has something for everyone — whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned cyclist, or just curious about getting started.

This year’s Bike Week was officially launched by cathaoirleach of Laois County Council, cllr Padraig Fleming, and Michael Rainey, Chief Executive of Laois County Council, who hit the Triogue Way on two wheels to kick things off.

“There are events to encourage people of all ages and abilities to experience the many benefits of cycling,” said Cllr Fleming. “We have something for everyone — all free of charge. I encourage everyone to take part in Bike Week 2025!” Backed by the National Transport Authority, co-ordinated by Laois County Council and delivered by community groups, schools and agencies, this annual celebration promotes cycling as a fun, healthy, and sustainable mode of transport — with benefits for the environment, our communities, and personal wellbeing.

“Laois County Council is proud to support Bike Week once again,” added Mr Rainey. “Cycling can transform how we live — it’s better for our health, our environment and our wallets. We hope everyone will take this opportunity to experience the joy of cycling.” Highlights of Bike Week 2025 include:
