Sad tributes to popular lady (80) after crash death

Tributes have been paid to a Kildare lady who tragically died after a road collision in Monasterevin on Monday.
Marie Heavey (née Kaye) died following a collision between her bicycle and a truck. It occurred close to Finlay's Filling Station on the R414 Rathangan Road – known locally as Cow Pastures - at Monasterevin at approximately 9.50am.
Mrs Heavey was conveyed by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital in Dublin, for treatment of serious injuries.
A local who knew her said: “She was a very active 80-year-old, up and down the road on that bike all day. She was a great woman for calling in to visit people, especially if they were housebound."
In a post on the Monasterevin Daycare Centre Facebook page, they describe Marie as the "very heart of our centre for many years".
"Her presence, kindness and friendship meant so much to everyone, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with Marie’s family, her many friends, and all those who loved her at this very difficult time. ."
Her death notice on RIP.ie states that Marie passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She was beloved wife of the late Pat and loving mother of John, Fergus and James.
The death notice says: 'Marie will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her heartbroken sons and Brian, her daughters-in-law Sheena and Geraldine, her adored grandchildren Jamie, Ailish , Ciara, Ròisìn, Rònàn, Daniel, Pàidì and Òdhran, her brothers Bill, her twin brother Christy, Noel, John and Pat, sisters Betty, Rita and Christina, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.'
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who were travelling in the area of the R414 (Rathangan Road) – known locally as "Cow Pastures” - at Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, on Monday 10 August between 9.15am and 10.15am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
