BLUE lights were flashing in Ballylinan this evening, when Santa got a Garda escort to the village for the big switch-on of Christmas lights.
Kind gardaí let Santa off with a caution, as Ballylinan officially switched to festive mode for the most wonderful time of the year.
Posting a photo on social media, Laois gardaí said: ‘Great to see such a brilliant turnout, plenty of smiles and even a very special festive guest making sure everyone stays on the nice list.
‘Fair play to the community for the atmosphere, the welcome and the festive spirit. Christmas has officially landed in Ballylinan!’
Meanwhile, Portarlington is also enjoying a big celebration, with the spectacular Santa Truck in town from 6pm to 7.30pm and a festive gathering around the town’s beautiful Christmas Tree, for the eagerly awaited switch-on of the lights.
The Santa Truck is a heartwarming initiative that transforms a Judge Haulage truck into a mobile winter wonderland, complete with lights, music, and festive cheer while supporting LauraLynn.
Families are invited to meet Santa, take photos, come on board and enjoy the spectacle with donations collected for LauraLynn.
