SANTA is on the good list in the Laois-Offaly garda division, after an arresting encounter at a local checkpoint this morning.
With his reindeers resting for the long journey ahead, Santa swapped his sleigh for a sensible saloon as he checked out the local route for his return visit on Christmas Eve.
Garda Barron couldn’t believe her eyes when Santa and Mrs Claus pulled up at a checkpoint in Clara this morning.
The conscientious garda was delighted when Santa informed her that she is definitely on his good list this year.
Posting a photo from the scene on social media, good-humoured Laois-Offaly gardaí said: ‘Santa dropped by to inform her she's on the good list - and Santa is on the good list too for wearing a seat belt!’
The message from gardaí ahead of a busy week on the roads is to drive safely and ‘Belt up like Santa!’
