Section of footpath subsided in Portarlington

According to cllr Aidan Mullins the footpath at the corner of Foxcroft Street and Main Street in Portarlington has subsided.
A short section of a footpath that has subsided on Foxcroft Street and Main Street in Portarlington footpath will be repaired in the coming weeks.
That was the assurance given to cllr Aidan Mullin,s who was speaking at the recent Graiguecullen/Portarlington Municipal District Council meeting, when said the area in question that needs repair “is a small section at the corner, right at the junction. It’s a new footpath and within five meters of the main street.
“It looks like a whole big slab of the footpath has subsided. Maybe it wasn’t supported underneath during the laying of the path. The consequence of the subsidence is that there’s about 60 or 70 millimeters of a gap to the original footpath. It’s a serious trip hazard for people coming around the corner. I’d say it was a recent construction fault.
“There’s also a lot of large trucks coming down the road, that shouldn’t be, that have to get up onto the footpath to get around that corner. That could be contributing to it as well.
“It’s a simple job to fix it,” said cllr Mullins.
