Snow halts many Laois bus services

MANY bus services across Laois have been cancelled due to hazardous road conditions during ice and heavy snowfall.
Passengers who would usually be travelling on Sunday evening after the weekend are advised to check updates from their usual service on social media, as the majority of routes are not operating.
The bus service confirmed at 3.43pm today that the following Sunday services are cancelled:
828 Cashel - Portlaoise - Currently not operating due to weather conditions.
858 Portlaoise - Thurles - Currently not operating due to weather conditions.
Meanwhile, confirmed a series of cancellations at 3pm today, Sunday 5 January. The service said on social media: ‘Services now SUSPENDED for the rest of today due to hazardous road conditions are:
806 Portarlington to Monasterevin
822 Mountrath to Carlow
823 Birr to Portlaoise
834 Portlaoise to Roscrea
850 Roscrea to Athlone
828/858 Portlaoise to Thurles
The following services will finish today at:
815 Tullamore to Athlone last service at 17:45 from Athlone
840 Banagher to Tullamore last service 16:50 from Tullamore
TFI stated on Saturday: ‘Due to the Met Eireann status Orange snow and ice weather warning for Laois, Offaly and Carlow and for the safety of our drivers and passengers, TFI Local Link Laois Offaly WILL NOT be running the following evening services on Saturday 4 January and Sunday 5 January:
554 Ballyfin – Coolrain via Camross and surrounding area
555 Rosenallis and surrounding area
556 Rosenallis and surrounding area
4728 Mountrath/Castletown and surrounds
10075 Ballyfin and surrounds
4729 Emo and surrounds

822 Mountrath to Carlow first service at 11am from Mountrath – subject to change pending road conditions
823 Birr to Portlaoise first service at 13:30 from Birr – subject to change pending road conditions
834 Portlaoise to Roscrea first service at 9:20am from Portlaoise
858 Portlaoise to Thurles first service at 10:20am from Portlaoise. All times are subject to road conditions.
