TRACTORS, trucks and other forms of transport took to the streets of Stradbally on Sunday 2 February for a special fundraiser.
Proceeds from the St Colman’s NS tractor and truck run will go towards the new astroturf facility.
The fun event also included a junior tractor run and concluded with a big raffle, while refreshments were served in St Joseph’s Hall.
Organised by the parents’ council, the run set off from the Stradbally Town & Country premises and followed a route around the parish.
Several local businesses, organisations and individuals helped to boost the funds with their kind and generous sponsorship.
The astroturf facility, which was completed last October, is enjoyed by everyone at the 330-pupil school, providing a safe, year-round space for physical education, sports and outdoor activities.
The pitch is also a valuable resource for other schools and clubs in the wider community, as well as a venue for Cumann na mBunscol matches and other sporting events.
The astroturf pitch was developed under the Sports Capital Programme, delivered through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
The tractor and truck run was a great financial success. Well done to all involved.
