Street lighting needed at junction of Laois village says local TD

Public lighting need at Junction between Mountrath and Castletown, says Deputy Brian Stanley
LAOIS Independent Republican TD Brian Stanley said the Junction at the Mountrath end of Castletown needs public lighting as a matter of urgency.
Deputy Stanley said: “The Junction at the Mountrath end of the village is in complete darkness. This poses a real danger for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists.
“In contrast, the junction at the Pike of Rushall end of the village is very well lit up.”
Deputy Stanley said: “Numerous residents have complained to me about this. I have raised the matter with Laois County Council and since then it has surveyed the area and has agreed that public lighting is badly needed there.”
The Portlaoise based TD said, to date on the matter. the council has completed a full Topographical Survey. Lighting design has been completed and a quotation for the work has been requested from a lighting contractor.
“I am anxious that adequate lighting is erected in the vicinity of this junction and that it is made safe for the residents of Castletown,” said Deputy Stanley.
