TWO former sixth class pupils from Scoil Naomh Eoin, Killenard have won a nationwide poster competition to raise awareness of carbon monoxide and the dangers that it can pose in our homes.

Gas Networks Ireland along with Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) invited entries to a carbon monoxide safety poster competition from pupils who had recently completed the ‘Energize’ programme.

The Energize programme delivers science to primary school pupils through practical and engaging lessons to foster interest in the subject so that they continue with it to second level education. Carbon monoxide awareness is an important element of the programme.

There were standout entries from every corner of Ireland, but it was Andrew and Mateo’s creation that truly shone.”
