Portlaoise Court: Stumbling man (60) fined for intoxication

A MAN who was found intoxicated, incoherent and stumbling onto a roadway was given three months to pay a fine when he appeared before Portlaoise District Court.
Garda Sgt Hughes said that while gardaí were on patrol at Millbrook, Portlaoise on 1 January they came across the defendant, who was “in a very intoxicated state, incoherent and falling out onto the road”.
Antonio Sala (60), 16 Millbrook, Portlaoise pleaded guilty to section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994, meaning that he was so intoxicated that he was a danger to himself or others.
Judge Andrew Cody convicted Mr Sala of the offence, fined him €100 and gave him three months to pay the fine.
