Supervalu and Centra stores have 14 Reverse Vending Machines in Laois

Over 3.5 million containers were returned to Centra and Supervalu stores in Laois since February.
ACCORDING to management at the seven Supervalu and nine Centra stores in Laois over 3.5 million containers were returned to their stores since the Deposit Return Scheme was introduced eight months ago.
A spokesperson for both store brands said that 14 Reverse Vending Machines are installed in their stores around Laois.
The spokesperson added that since the scheme's launch in February their stores have accepted a total of 125 million returned containers nationwide, becoming the first retailers in Ireland to reach this milestone.
Launching in February, SuperValu and Centra invested €28 million installed 686 Reverse Vending Machines in 549 stores across all 26 counties in Ireland, as part of their continued focus to build more sustainable communities.
According to both retailers, weekends are the busiest period for recycling with consumers averaging 24 containers per visit.
Managing Director of SuperValu and Centra Luke Hanlon said: “I would like to thank our retailers in Laois for the effort and investment that has gone into rolling out the scheme.”
