TG4 to air highlights of Stradbally's Electric Picnic over Christmas

TG4, the Irish language broadcaster, is set to air a special Electric Picnic highlight series over the Christmas period.
Electric Picnic, which takes place annually in Stradbally, is one of Ireland’s largest music and arts festivals. It has boasted a host of national and international acts since its inception in 2004.
TG4 broadcast the festival for the first time earlier this year. It was presented by Síomha Ní Ruairc and John Sharpson from a studio in the Hazelwood/An Chollchoill area.
The programme featured live performances and interviews with some of Ireland’s biggest acts, including Kneecap and Amble on the main stage, as well as music from An Puball Gaeilge, Hazelwood/An Chollchoill stage and live sessions from the studio.
To celebrate this inaugural broadcast, will give viewers the chance to see brand-new content from this year’s Electric Picnic.
This includes an interview with up-and-coming rap artist KhakiKID. Presenter John Sharpson spoke to him ahead of his performance in the Electric Arena tent in front of 12,000 people.
Viewers will see KhakiKID perform his hit song from that energetic show.
Irish music stalwart Mundy also features on the programme. He speaks with TG4 after performing at the festival and plays a special version of his song Mexico for the show.
Interviews with attendees and musicians will also be featured, alongside music from Clada, Amano, Caoimhín, Byro and Eve Belle. New music will also be heard from the Hazelwood/An Chollchoill stage, featuring John Spillane, The Fogues, IMLÉ with Róisín Seoighe & James Shannon, Jessie & The Veil and Lisa Murray.
The Donnys, The Arbour Hillbillies and The Gladstone Band all performed live acoustic sessions in the studio.
Viewers will also get the chance to look back at highlights from the original broadcast.
The programme will also spotlight the role the Irish language has at the Electric Picnic festival, with An Puball Gaeilge in the Mindfield area featuring a wide range of events and performances in Irish.
will air in three episodes over the Christmas period, with the first on 29 December at 9.45pm, the second on 31 December at 9.35pm and the last on 4 January at 9.15pm.
