Third arrest in Laois in terrorism investigation

A THIRD man has been arrested in Laois as part of the ongoing cross-border terrorism investigation.
Gardaí confirmed shortly after 10pm tonight that a third male was arrested this afternoon and has been detained for questioning.
Aged in his 30s, the suspect is currently detained at a Garda Station in the midlands, under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
He can be detained for up to 48 hours, with the possibility of a further extension.
The investigation continues to be led by An Garda Síochána Special Detective Unit.
Two men have already appeared in court following their arrests in Laois last week, as part of a cross-border terrorism-related investigation into a far right group.
Both were remanded in custody and are due to appear again at Portlaoise District Court this Thursday by video link.
