Three golds for Laois in national Tidy Towns contest
Scoil Mhuire NS in Abbeyleix won the national Tiny Tidy Towns School Award
LAOIS has won an amazing three gold medals at the national 2025 Tidy Towns awards ceremony.
The glittering hat-trick was scored in Croke Park today by Portlaoise, Durrow and former Ireland's Tidiest Town title winner Abbeyleix.
It is an incredible 10th consecutive gold for the beautiful heritage town of Abbeyleix, just a week after it won international awards at the Communities in Bloom ceremony in Canada.
Portlaoise scored three-in-a-row with another gold, reflecting the tireless work of the Tidy Towns group, while a wonderful first gold medal for Durrow is a well-deserved reward for its dedicated Tidy Towns volunteers.
Meanwhile, Scoil Mhuire NS in Abbeyleix also did the town proud, as it was announced national winner of the Tiny Tidy Towns School Award competition at the Croke Park ceremony.
More detailed results for towns and villages across Laois will be announced later.
The overall winner of SuperValu Tidy Towns 2025 is Carrick-on-Shannon in Co Leitrim, which also won in the small town category.
Rosscarbery in Co Cork was named Ireland's Tidiest Village, while Dalkey in Co Dublin was awarded Ireland's Tidiest Large Town.
The Tidiest Large Urban Centre award went to Tralee in Co Kerry.
