Tributes paid to Kildare couple killed in road collision

Tributes have been paid to a Kildare couple have been killed in a fatal collision in Waterford at the weekend.

Brian and Grace Frisby from Naas were travelling in a car which collided with a van outside of Waterford city at around noon on Saturday.

The family were steeped in the GAA in Naas. A statement from club chairperson Damien McGrath described it as “unimaginable loss for those closes to them”.

"Naas GAA is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of two much loved members of our club and community, Brian and Grace Frisby, who lost their lives in a road traffic accident on Saturday.

"Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with their two sons, Fionn and Theo, their extended families, friends, and all who are grieving at this devastating time.

"This is an unimaginable loss for those closest to them, and the entire Naas GAA community stands with them in their sorrow.

"Brian was an active coach within our club, giving generously of his time, energy, and passion to support and develop our young players. Their passing under such tragic circumstances will be felt far and wide across both the club and the wider community.

"His contribution and support will be remembered with deep appreciation.

"In the coming days, we will work closely with the family to support them in any way we can, and we ask that the privacy of all those affected be respected as they navigate this very painful period. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.” The club were due to hold a number in the near future but they have now been cancelled.

A minute’s silence was held on Sunday for Kildare’s game against Cavan.
