TWO beautiful Laois walking trails will share €20,000 in government funding announced today.
The Slieve Bloom Way has been approved for €10,000, while the Binnianea Way Trail in Cullohill has also been granted €10,000.
The Slieve Bloom Way funding is for the installation of furniture, signage and repairs along the trail.
The grant awarded to Binnianea Way, a looped walk spanning 11.6km, is for the installation of furniture, signage and upgrades to the trail surface.
Laois Partnership will be involved in managing the upgrade works on both trails.
Welcoming the funding, Laois TD Seán Fleming commented: “There has been a major increase in the number of people and families using outdoor walking areas throughout the county and these facilities are important for people’s overall physical and wellbeing.
“We are very fortunate to have such valuable walking trails across Laois. I would encourage as many people as possible to embrace the outdoors and use these walks and all other walking trails across the county.”
