The St Abban's team who finished in second place in the National Road Relays
ST Abban’s AC senior women’s team enjoyed a strong performance under sunny skies in Raheny on Sunday, securing an impressive second-place finish in the Senior Women’s Road Relays.
The championships take place over a one-mile loop in Raheny, with varying distances assigned to each leg of the relay. This marked the club’s return to the Senior Women’s event after several years away, making the result all the more significant.
The team consisted of Maisy O’Sullivan (1 mile), Cheryl Nolan (2 miles), and Emily O’Shea (1 mile). Maisy got St Abban’s off to an excellent start, clocking a blistering 4:59 for her opening mile and putting the team in a strong position early on.

Cheryl Nolan then took over, carrying a narrow lead into the longer two-mile leg. She battled hard throughout, delivering a solid 10:21 and keeping the team firmly in contention as the race intensified.
On the final leg, Emily O’Shea faced a tight contest for the podium places. Showing great composure, she held onto second position with a time of 5:05 for the closing mile.
St Abban’s ultimately finished just behind Dublin City Harriers, while edging out Dundrum South Dublin to secure a well-earned silver medal.
