EMO Court was bathed in autumn sunshine on Sunday as athletes from across the county gathered for the Laois Masters, Junior and Juvenile Development Cross Country Championships. The magnificent grounds provided a fitting stage for a memorable day of athletics, with the golden colours of autumn creating a spectacular backdrop for the action.
With sunlight filtering through the trees and crisp leaves scattered across the course, competitors raced over the lush green grass in near-perfect conditions. From the youngest participants taking their first steps in cross country to seasoned masters athletes competing at the highest level, there was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day.

A total of 233 athletes completed the championship races, highlighting the continued strength and growth of athletics within the county. There was also great excitement around the guest race, where our youngest athletes had the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition and enjoy being part of such a special occasion.
The event showcased the determination, commitment and sportsmanship that are at the heart of cross country running. Athletes pushed themselves to the limit across every race, supported by enthusiastic coaches, parents, clubmates and spectators who lined the course and created a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.

A sincere thank you to Emo Court for the use of its outstanding facilities. The venue is one of the jewels of the county and provided a superb setting for championship competition. Laois is fortunate to have access to such a beautiful location, and it once again proved to be an exceptional host for athletics.
A special word of thanks also to St. Michael’s A.C. for hosting the championships and to the many volunteers whose hard work and dedication ensured the event ran smoothly. From course preparation and registration to marshalling and race management, the efforts of volunteers are vital to the success of days such as this.
Thanks also to Laois Athletics County Board for facilitating another excellent championship fixture and for its continued work in supporting athletics throughout the county.

Most importantly, congratulations and well done to every athlete who took part. Whether competing for medals, representing their club or simply challenging themselves, each participant contributed to a wonderful day of sport. To the coaches, parents, supporters and volunteers who continue to encourage and inspire our athletes, thank you for helping make the championships such an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
It was a day that celebrated not only competition and achievement, but also the strong community spirit that makes athletics in Laois so special.
