Athletics

Kate O'Connor has gotten off to a good start at the World Indoor Athletics Championships with three events completed.

The Dundalk woman competes in the Pentathlon and finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, fourth in the High Jump, and finished third in the shot put.

She sits second overall.

Last night, Nick Griggs finished in 9th in the final of the 3 thousand metres in Torun in Poland, with Andrew Coscoran back in 13th.

Lauren Roy's 6th-place finish in the semi-finals of the 60 metres wasn't enough to see her into the final.

Soccer

Newcastle lead one nil at half time in their meeting with rivals Sunderland at St James' park.

A win for the Black Cats would see them go above their neighbours into 10th in the table.

Later today, Tottenham look to keep up their recent good form with a game against Nottingham Forest.

Both sides can take a step away from the relegation zone with a victory.

Kick off there at 2:15 pm.

At the same time, West Ham take on Aston Villa at Villa park.

Arsenal face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the EFL Cup final at Wembley later. Kick-off is at half four.

GAA

There are plenty of storylines to keep an eye on during the final day of the National Football League.

27 teams have something to play for across the four divisions, with only Monaghan, Down, Offaly, Fermanagh, Clare and Waterford knowing their fates.

In Division 1, four teams can reach the league final, with Donegal and Kerry in the driving seat.

Jim McGuinness takes his men to already down Monaghan while the All-Ireland champions make the long trip to Armagh.

Elsewhere, it's Dublin versus Galway and Mayo host neighbours Roscommon.

All those matches throw in at 3:30 pm.
