Brian Bowe’s St Brigid’s side are gearing up for a huge game this weekend as they look to secure a place in the AIB All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie final. They’re in this position having been crowned Leinster champions against Naas in Tullamore on Sunday, November 17.

“It was unbelievable to get over the line, it was a huge positive for the girls. We trained Friday night so they came with a huge pep in their step to training. It has really given them the belief that anything is possible now if they put their minds hearts and bodies down to it Bowe and this squad have been on a great journey since they got the better of Camross in the Laois County Final on October 19.

“The girls have found a new sense of confidence that probably was missing the last few years. They just needed to realise what an outstanding bunch they were and I think we drilled that into them since day one and it’s showing on the field now The Laois and Leinster champions will face a tough task on Sunday with them facing the reigning All-Ireland champions Clanmaurice of Kerry. Bowe is well aware of the challenge they’ll face in Bansha on Sunday.

“They are a great side but so are we. They are reigning champions but all reigns have to come to an end and hopefully we can be the ones to do it but we will have to be at our absolute best. Anything else won’t be good enough.

Rest and recovery is essential for Bowe and his players with his panel always preparing well on and off the field.

“Girls are great at preparing for games both on and off the field. They head as a group to the recovery hub in Portlaoise after every game and they are very good group to make sure they are in the best shape for every game The communities around the club have gotten behind this group of players with a strong St Brigid’s crowd having travelled around Leinster for their Championship winning campaign. Bowe is hoping that this squad of St Brigid’s girls can inspire the future generations of camogie stars.

“It's been absolutely huge for the girls club and community. The support has been off the charts. I can’t remember any team in the area ever being as well supported. The girls are huge role models for all the younger teams coming through. At the meet and greet, they gave every child that came plenty of time and their deserved success can only be a huge positive to the club going forward.
