Clonaslee/St Manman’s 1-6

STRADBALLY maintained their perfect start to the season as they eased past Clonaslee/St Manman’s in Stradbally on Saturday evening.

A dominant first half proved key for the victors as they powered eight points ahead in the first half which was just too much to reel in.

To be fair to the visitors they fought back within a point in the second half, but Stradbally kicked on again and ran out deserving winners.

It was all Stradbally for the first twenty minutes as they hit the first eight points to give the visitors all to do to try and some how get back into the contest.

Eoin Buggie got the scoreboard ticking with a brilliant two pointer from long range which set the tone for the home side.

Conor Goode added another, while the impressive Conor Buggie made it four without reply for the home side.

Stradbally were getting into their groove, and they were threatening to run riot. Further points from Joe Larkin, Fionn McEvoy, Eoin Buggie and Liam Knowles put Stradbally in complete control.

The visitors eventually got on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute from Manus Dunne and was followed up with the last point of the half through John Rigney.

It was sparked by a two pointer from Dunne which was soon followed by a goal after a great finish from Seamus Rosney. James Dunne added another and all of a sudden, it was a one-point game 0-10 to 1-6.

Stradbally didn’t panic though and settled back into the contest and took control again. First Fionn McEvoy hit a brilliant point before Conor Buggie ran at the heart of the defence before unleashing a shot into the back of the net to half the comeback.
