A teenage girl has died more than a week after a car crash in Co Wexford.

She has been named locally as 14-year-old Sophie Caulfield.

She was among three passengers injured in the single-vehicle crash in Sheastown at about 6.20am on Wednesday, July 8th.

On Sunday, gardaí confirmed she died from her injuries on Friday.

The driver of the car, a male in his late teens, has appeared before Carlow District Court in connection with the crash.

An Garda Síochána said: “Road users who may have camera footage including dashcam and were travelling in the area are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Wexford Garda Station on 053 916 5200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
