With bated breath, the team, management and supporters headed to Mullingar Golf Club to take on Greystones Golf Club in the Leinster final.
The first pair to step on tee were Catherine Reilly and Sadie Ging. It was a great contest that went right down to a wire with the Heath pair winning on the 18th green.
Now it was the turn of Maria Delaney and Helen Kelly who faced a very tough Greystones pairing and unfortunately went down in their match on the 14th green.
Winning on the 13th green Noeleen Byrne and Therese Ryan set up the match for a very exciting finish.
All eyes now turned to the pairing of Sarah Bergin and Mary Cushen who were level coming down the 18th fairway. After a blistering third shot from Mary onto the green, she sank the 8ft putt to halve the hole and in the process winning the Leinster Pennant to the cheers of the team supporters.
The team gelled well together and could be regularly seen on The Heath putting in hours of practice before every match. They travelled to each of the venues to get to know the different courses.
They were ably put together by the team manager, Marion Mills, assisted by Jane O’Rourke and it all paid off.
