This was a victory for the team, not any individual

LAOIS camogie captain and Player of the Match from Saturday’s Division 3A final, Clodagh Tynan, was delighted to have finally gotten over the line with her Laois camogie side. Laois were beaten by a single point in last year’s league final, as well as in the Leinster and All-Ireland finals.
Tynan is hoping Laois can make ‘it a habit now’ and win more silverware in 2025.
“We narrowly missed out three times last year. We knew Roscommon would be a close game, so we were never going to walk it. But I suppose, having beaten them earlier in the year, it was a nice thing to come in on knowing that we did have the beating of them. So, thank God, we got over the line, and hopefully we can make it a habit now for this year,” she said.
Laois were in a great position at half-time, leading 0-11 to 0-3, but Tynan knew that Roscommon wouldn’t let Laois get their hands on the trophy that easily. Laois managed to only add three points to their tally in the second period, but had enough credit built up to get over the line.
“It's mad. We don't expect to have the game won at half-time. It wasn't won, Roscommon came back and they completely dominated the second half, well, that’s what it felt like for us down the back anyway,” she said.
“But yeah, the first half we got off to a great start. That was our goal, the first ten minutes were to really drive on and just to stay on top then. At half-time, we were probably disappointed that we hadn’t scored more to just really put them away and keep the scoreboard ticking over, because that kills any team. But thank God we had a lot of the work done in the first half,” Tynan said.
Tynan and Camross’ Aimee Collier were awarded All-Stars in 2024, but the St Brigid’s defender is thrilled to finally get to celebrate as a team and not as an individual.
“That is huge, you have it all in one there. Last year, getting the individual awards like Aimee Collier and I did, it's an honour on behalf of the team because you can't perform if you don't have good people around you. That was huge for us, but it's lovely now to be able to celebrate with the team, and the focus now is on the team and being able to drive on hopefully now the rest of the year,” she ended.
