THE Leinster Athletics Star Awards are awarded to athletes to recognise outstanding achievement and contribution within athletics.
So it is no surprise that St Abban’s AC extends a huge congratulations to Sinead Fitzpatrick (Juvenile Female), Leo Smith (Juvenile Male) and Katie Baldwin (Senior) who are the Laois recipients of the 2025 Leinster Star Awards.
This is a great achievement from some very dedicated athletes. The Star Awards aim to celebrate success, dedication, and the community spirit of athletics in Leinster, shining a light on both performances on the track and the hard work behind the scenes.

Athletes from clubs across Laois and Carlow gathered in Nenagh on Saturday last for a highly competitive indoor athletics event that showcased the depth of talent across both counties. From sprints and middle-distance races to field events, there was a strong standard on display throughout the day, with many close finishes and impressive individual performances keeping spectators engaged from start to finish.
The meet provided invaluable competition for athletes at all levels as preparations continue for the upcoming Leinster Indoor Championships. For many, the Nenagh event offered a perfect opportunity to test fitness, sharpen race tactics and gain experience in a competitive indoor setting.

Coaches were encouraged by the commitment and determination shown, highlighting the event as an important stepping stone in the indoor season.
Sincere thanks are extended to all the clubs from Laois and Carlow who took part, as well as to the officials, volunteers and organisers who worked tirelessly to ensure the day ran smoothly. Their combined efforts contributed to a well-run and enjoyable event, making the Nenagh meet a great success and a positive boost for athletes heading into the championship phase of the season.

The St Abbans AC club AGM will take place on Thursday 12 February in the clubhouse. Everybody is invited to attend and have their say in celebrating the successes of 2025 as well as planning for the future in 2026. The AGM begins at 8pm.
