Two pedestrians have been injured in two separate incidents in Laois and Kilkenny on Wednesday.

Shortly after 7 pm in Abbeyleix, Co Laois, a man in his 70s was involved in a collision with a car on the Main Street.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene, and the local man was brought to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, for injuries believed to be “non-life threatening at this time.”

Earlier on Wednesday, another male pedestrian was injured along John Street in Kilkenny city at around 2.30 pm.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transferred to St Luke’s General Hospital.

Kilkenny-based gardaí are appealing for witnesses on 056-7775000.
