An exhibition of mixed-media paintings by the well-known artist and art tutor with the Laois/Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) Billy Dollard is currently on show in Bloom HQ, Mountrath.
Included in the work is a variety of landscape paintings as well as country scenes of bygone times, of people in their everyday lives, of pets on boreens and nature walks.

Billy said: “My style could be described as realism and can be expressionist. I have always admired and been influenced by the old masters, particularly 17th century Dutch painter Jan Vermeer. I have also been influenced by post-impressionist painter Vincent Van Gough and by Irish painters Seán Keating, William Leech, Paul Henry and John Lavery.
“I have been a tutor with the LOETB for the last ten years for community education painting with groups of people such as active retirement, men’s sheds, refugee groups, Laois Libraries and many private groups.”

The exhibition can be viewed until Friday 27 September. More information is available from Bloom HQ by phoning 057 9300036.
