Jillian Godsil Brings Running Out of Road to Power of Words Open Mic
Jillian Godsil
Author Jillian Godsil will read from her debut novel Running Out of Road at the Power of Words Open Mic on Friday, July 3, at Mooneys, Abbeyleix.
Written during one of the most challenging periods of her life and left unpublished for a decade, Running Out of Road explores themes of freedom, resilience, loss and the determination to keep moving forward when every path ahead appears blocked.
The novel's journey to publication is almost as remarkable as the story itself. Written in the aftermath of the financial crash, the manuscript remained forgotten for ten years while Godsil rebuilt her life, campaigned successfully for changes to Ireland's bankruptcy laws, and later stood in the European Parliament elections.

More recently, following a successful battle with cancer, the novel was rediscovered by an American publisher and brought to print, bringing a ten-year-old manuscript to a new generation of readers.
Jillian's reading forms part of the Power of Words Open Mic, a popular monthly gathering celebrating writers, poets, storytellers and performers. The evening offers audiences a chance to hear excerpts from Running Out of Road and learn more about the extraordinary story behind its publication.
All are welcome to attend and participate with a story, song, poem or reading of their own. Admission is free, making it an ideal opportunity for both performers and audience members to enjoy an evening of creativity, conversation and community.
