Abbeyleix House & Farm Family Day Set to Deliver a Wonderful Celebration of Community, Heritage and Family Fun
Abbeyleix Family Day
Now firmly established as one of the Midlands' most anticipated family events, Family Day brings together the very best of rural life, community spirit and outdoor entertainment in the unique setting of the historic Abbeyleix estate. From animal encounters and equestrian displays to storytelling, music, crafts and children's activities, there will be something to delight every generation.
The day begins with the popular 10km Trail Run, with registration opening at 9am and the race getting underway at 10.30am, before the main Family Day festivities commence from 12 noon.
Visitors can look forward to a packed programme of attractions across the estate, including the ever-popular Laois Pony Club Relay Race, the spectacular Aircraft Fly-In, children's train rides, sensory play areas, vintage and emergency services displays, artisan food vendors and a wide variety of craft stalls.
Animal lovers will have the opportunity to meet an array of friendly residents and visitors, including alpacas, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and deer, while families can enjoy face painting, balloon modelling and live entertainment throughout the afternoon.
This year's event also introduces a number of exciting new attractions. Among the highlights are the annual show of the Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland, a special Icelandic Horse presentation by the Abbeyleix House & Farm equestrian team, enchanting Children's Yoga Fairy Sessions in the Walled Gardens, a fun-filled Family Obstacle Course, and a dedicated Seanchaí Tent, where visitors can immerse themselves in traditional folklore, storytelling and music.
The cultural offering continues with an Art Exhibition in the Church, featuring work from talented artists and makers, further showcasing the creativity and artistic heritage of the region.
Beyond the entertainment, Family Day also serves a deeper purpose by supporting a number of deserving local charities. This year's beneficiaries are The Bog Walk, Spink Comhaltas, LittleHill Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, and Laois Domestic Abuse Service, organisations whose work makes a meaningful difference across their communities.
Speaking ahead of the event, organisers said they are looking forward to welcoming visitors from across Laois and beyond.
"Family Day has always been about creating a space where families can spend quality time together, enjoy the outdoors and experience the wonderful heritage, culture and community spirit that Abbeyleix has to offer. Every year we try to introduce something new while retaining the attractions people have come to know and love. We are excited to welcome returning visitors and first-time guests alike for what promises to be a truly memorable day."
With its unique blend of heritage, countryside charm, family entertainment and community involvement, Abbeyleix House & Farm Family Day continues to grow as one of the region's standout summer events.
Tickets are available in advance, and organisers encourage early booking to avoid disappointment.
