40 year celebration for Scoil Bhride, fundraisers and Laois Connects

Laois Connects

‘Laois Connects’

The week will run from 7-13 October and the organisers are working with various organisations and bodies to promote activities which support mental health and wellbeing. If you are in a community group, a sports club, an organisation or other group who provide events and activities that support mental health and wellbeing, then we can help you promote it. For the week that is in it, and to be accessible, it is preferable that events are free.

You could be a walking group or be involved with a GAA club that has a walking track. Do you have walk and talk event or provide crafts that are great for mindfulness? Maybe you are in the wellness field and provide talks and courses. To find out more, contact Tom at tcurran@laoiscoco.ie or on 057 8664150/086 0363426.

Ice Cards

In case of emergency, cards are back in stock at Laois Co Council for any individuals or groups. Contact Tom at Age Friendly Laois on 057 8664150/086 0363426 or email tcurran@laoiscoco.com. The cards contain useful information to emergency services and first responders in an emergency. Some eircode stickers are also available.

GAA Lotto fundraiser

The organising committee will host a card drive in Shanahoe community centre on Friday at 8pm. Proceeds are in aid of Shanahoe Primary School funds. All are welcome.

There was no jackpot winner last week and the numbers drawn were 3, 4, 11 and 16.

Celebrations

Scoil Bhride will celebrate 40 years this month since it first opened. To celebrate, they are holding a 40th anniversary event in the school on Sunday 29 September from 2-5pm. It promises to be a fun-filled afternoon with music, dance, food and entertainment while taking a trip down memory lane. Past pupils, colleagues and friends are welcome.

The late Mary Wallis

The death took place at her residence of Mary Wallis, Stillbrook, Mountrath. She is mourned by her husband John, daughters Patricia and Denise, grandchildren, son-in-law Donie, sister Julie and niece and grandnephew, extended family and friends. Reposal took place at her home and removal was to St Fintan’s church for requiem Mass. Cremation took place in Shannon crematorium afterwards.
