Get Paid to Witness a World Record Attempt in Laois Paid witnesses sought for 24-hour Guinness World Records challenge in aid of Dementia Ireland Fancy getting paid to watch someone attempt to make Guinness World Records history?

Organisers of an ambitious 24-hour endurance challenge in County Laois are looking for members of the public to become official witnesses — and they’ll be paid for their time.

The Guinness World Records attempt will take place on September 12–13, 2026, at St. Abban’s AC Track, Monavea, Crettyard, Co. Laois, where an endurance athlete will attempt to set a new record for the longest running distance completed in 24 hours while carrying a 20lb weight pack.

The challenge will continue around the clock for 24 hours, with official witnesses required throughout the attempt to independently verify the activity and ensure that the strict Guinness World Records requirements are followed.

Witnesses are being recruited to work four-hour shifts, with each person receiving payment for their time. No previous experience of Guinness World Records events is required, but witnesses will play an important role in ensuring the attempt is properly documented and verified.

The event is also being held in aid of Dementia Ireland, adding a strong charitable purpose to what promises to be an extraordinary test of endurance.

“This is about much more than attempting to break a world record. It is an opportunity to bring people together around an incredible physical challenge while raising funds and awareness for Dementia Ireland,” the organisers said.

The attempt will begin on September 12 and continue through to September 13, with witnesses needed across the full 24-hour period.

For anyone looking for something a little different to do in September, becoming a paid witness offers the chance to see a potential world record unfold at close quarters, while also supporting a worthwhile cause.

The event will be held at St. Abban’s AC Track, Monavea, Crettyard, Co. Laois, R93 WA24.

Anyone interested in becoming a witness can contact kavanaghAlison@yahoo.com for further information and to register their interest.
