Gardaí in Co Donegal on Saturday night arrested a banned driver who they found to be nine times over the drink-driving limit.
The driver was stopped by members of the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit.
Officers had just left the scene of another collision when they came across the drunk driver.
The driver was stopped and failed a roadside breath test.
Gardaí later discovered the driver was already banned.
Gardaí say further breath testing showed that the driver was nine times over the legal limit.
The car was seized and the owner must now apply to the Judge of the District Court to get it back, say gardaí.
The driver was charged with drink-driving and will appear at a future sitting of the local courts.
A Garda spokesperson said "Never take unnecessary and dangerous risks where road safety is concerned. Never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs...ever."
