Brochan conquers the Heath

Brochan conquers the Heath

Winner on the day, Brochan O'Reilly and son along with John Taylor, Noel Browne, Joe Walsh and Denny Jacob

THE Laois Hurlers Golfing Society descended on the Heath Golf Club recently for their annual Golf Challenge. With a large turn-out in attendance, it proved a resounding success.

Strong winds were a constant presence throughout the day, an ever-present factor on every golf shot. Getting to the greens, let alone pins, proved challenging to say the least.

The key to the golf course was patience and the one member who didn’t seem to get flustered, in the conditions, was Brochan O’Reilly who shot a wonderful score of 42 points to take home the main prize.

Liam Wynne filled the runners up spot and he also captured the Longest Drive prize. John Delaney took the bronze, closely followed home by Fint Scully, while Alex Stenson beat all comers to clinch the Nearest the Pin prize.

Rathdowney Golf Club will host our next outing which is our Captain’s Prize. This will take place on Saturday 5 October.
