Burst water mains leads to supply issues in southside Dublin

Emergency repair work will take place tonight after a water main burst in Rathfarnham in Dublin.

Uisce Éireann is warning people in the surrounding areas to expect low pressure or temporary interruptions overnight.

People in Terenure, Milltown, Rathgar, Dartry, Kimmage, Rathmines, Harolds Cross and surrounding areas could experience low pressure or supply interruptions overnight.

Uisce Éireann says it's making every effort to reduce disruption for homes and businesses, as well as road traffic near the site.

It's hoped the fix can be implemented by 6am on Friday morning.

The utility operator says it could take a few hours for supply to return to normal afterwards, with people on higher ground or near the end of a line more likely to have to wait.

A traffic management plan will be in place to ensure the safety of engineering staff.
