A man in his 20s has been arrested as part of ongoing garda investigations into organised crime in Galway.

A residential area in Doughiska, Co Galway, was searched under warrant by the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by members of the Regional Armed Support Unit and personnel attached to Millstreet Garda Station, on Monday.

A male in his 20s was then arrested and is currently being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006, at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

As part of this operation, two cryptocurrency accounts containing $410,000 have been frozen, along with an account at a local financial institution holding over €20,000.

Gardaí said the investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
