An investigation has been launched after a Defence Forces vehicle ploughed through the perimeter wall at Collins Barracks in Cork on Thuesday afternoon.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in incident which is now being investigated by the military.

The Ford Transit Minibus Crew Cab crashed half way through a wall which backs on to the Old Youghal Road on the northside of Cork city. No other vehicle was involved in the incident.

Van accidently crashes out a wall at Collins Barracks in Cork. 

Photographs of the incident appeared on X. It showed bits of debris on the street following the single vehicle accident. The debris was subsquently cleaned up.

The Defence Forces has confirmed that an incident occurred yesterday at the army barracks.

“Thankfully now one was injured. Due to the ongoing investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
