Gardaí made 18 arrests every day since launch of Dublin city policing plan last year

An Garda Síochána has said it will maintain a high-visibility policing plan in Dublin City Centre, having made 18 arrests every day since its implementation in April 2025.
Gardaí also issued an average of 35 charges/summonses every day since the introduction of the initiative.
In the same period, a total of over 1,000 adult cautions/juvenile diversion referrals were given.
Gardaí said there have been increased pro-active policing detections for:
- Public order offences (+12 per cent);
- Drunkenness offences (+21 per cent);
- Drugs for simple possession (+16 per cent);
- Obstruction under the Drugs Act (+27 per cent).
The high-visibility policing strategy has been extended into the DMR East, Dún Laoghaire, DMR South, and Tallaght during the course of the 12 months. Initially, it was contained to North Central, Store Street, and South Central areas.
In DMR East, there are high-visibility beats in Dún Laoghaire Town, Shankhill Village, Blackrock Village, and Dundrum Village including the town centre.
In DMR South, there are high-visibility patrols in the Square Shopping Centre, Tallaght village, Rathfarnham village, Crumlin village, Rathmines village, Rathgar village, and Terenure Village.
