511 people are on trolleys in hospitals across the country on Thursday, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

337 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 174 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The hospital with the highest number of patients without a trolley is University Hospital Galway, with 69 people without a bed.

47 people are in the emergency department, with 22 patients elsewhere in the hospital.

At University Hospital Galway, 61 people are without a bed, with 45 patients in the emergency department.

60 people are on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick, with 30 patients in the emergency department.
