Laois death notice: Bernard (Benny) Phelan, Mountrath and Portarlington

Bernard (Benny) Phelan, formerly of Mountrath and in recent years Portarlington, Laois, passed away peacefully on 12 October, surrounded by his loving family and in the gentle care of staff at Droimnín Nursing Home, Stradbally. Predeceased by his mother Martha and father Richard.

Deeply loved and forever remembered by his devoted sister Maura, brothers Richie, Patrick and John, the rest of his immediate family, extended family and all who knew and cared for him throughout his life, both near and far.

Benny will be fondly remembered for his big heart, love of music and his lively spirit. He had a song for every occasion and a smile that could light up any room. His laughter, stories and love of life will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

May Benny's kind and gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath on Monday 13 October from 6pm, with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday to St Fintan’s Church, Mountrath (R32X338) for Requiem Mass at 10am, followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.
