Laois GAA announce the winners of their prestigious GAA awards for 2025

Paddy O'Sullivan

Senior Footballer

Paddy O’Sullivan (Portarlington)

Without a doubt a deserving winner. O’Sullivan was once again the heartbeat of the winning Portarlington team and played a huge part in winning the championship once again. He spent most of the time in the half back line but with his pace and power he was a constant threat going forward but never forgot his defensive duties either. A brilliant year for the Portarlington star.

Senior ‘B’ Footballer

Paul Lawlor (Emo)

Paul Lawlor was a worthy winner of the Senior ‘B’ award. He was immense all through the championship and kept it going through the Senior ‘B’ competition.

He starred in the Senior ‘B’ finally scoring 1-3 from play and then went in goals in extra time for the injured Enda Butler and ended up the hero in the penalty shoot out scoring one and saving two.

Intermediate Footballer

Cian Nolan (Park/Ratheniska)

Cian Nolan played a huge part in Park/Ratheniska’s success to getting back to senior football. He was impressive in the four games they played in and scored 4-16 in them games. His main attributes are his pace and power and another deserving winners after a brilliant campaign.

Intermediate ‘B’ Footballer

Oran Darcy (Annanough)

Oran Darcy put in brilliant displays in his debut year at adult level for Annanough. Darcy put in brilliant performances throughout the intermediate championship. He notched up 1-3 in an important victory over Timahoe and has made a big impact for his side this season.

Junior Footballer

Padraig McMahon (Ballyroan Abbey)

Padraig McMahon dropped down back to Junior ‘A’ football this year and was top of the class for his side. Used all his skill and experience to add to the young Ballyroan/Abbey side and led his team to league and championship glory.

Minor Footballer

Cian O’Sullivan (Crettyard-Spink)

Crettyard-Spink beat Portlaoise in the Minor showcase and Cian O’Sullivan was the star of the show kicking eight points. He is still underage for the competition which makes it even more impressive. A brilliant year for the youngster.

Intercounty Footballer

Ronan Coffey (Portarlington)

In his first year at inter county Ronan Coffey transported his club performances to inter county level. He was one of the most consistent performers and was Laois’ second top scorer after Mark Barry.

Senior Hurler

Stephen Bergin (Clough/Ballacolla)

Clough/Ballacolla had another brilliant year claiming their fifth title in six years and Stephen Bergin played a huge part in the success.

After losing Stephen (Picky) Maher to injury earlier in the year, Bergin filled his void and starred right through the championship.

Senior ‘B’ Hurler

Ciaran Comerford (The Harps)

Ciaran Comerford was The Harps main man throughout the campaign and played a huge part in winning the Senior ‘B’ with a brilliant display against Abbeyleix in the final. A brilliant year for the player.

Premier Intermediate Hurler

David Connolly (Ballyfin)

A man of the match display which ended a brilliant year for David Connolly who was instrumental throughout and led his team to glory and back to Senior hurling in 2025.

Intermediate Hurler

Fionn Holland (Clonad)

Clonad were victories at Intermediate level going unbeaten right through the championship. The team had many standout performances, but Fionn Holland was just brilliant right the way through and led his team to glory.

Junior Hurler

John A Delaney (Clough/Ballacolla)

After another championship win for Clough-Ballacolla John ‘A’ Delaney was their standout player. He was stationed in defence and set the standards throughout the campaign. A deserving winner.

Minor Hurler

Tom Óg Phelan (Castletown)

Tom Óg Phelan was Castletown’s star this year. The talented youngster led his side to glory against The Harps in the final and wracked up huge scores in every game he played. A player to look out for.

Intercounty Hurler

David Dooley (Rosenallis)

In a disappointing finish to the year for Laois after losing out in the Joe McDonagh cup final, it is David Dooley who picks up this award. He was consistent all year and was one of the go to players for Laois.

Referee of the Year

Colin Bailey (Mountrath)

Colin Bailey has been selected the referee of the year for 2025. The up-and-coming young referee has been consistent all year round and has future county finals if his rise continues in the game.

Laois Handball

Kevin Brennan (Clough/Ballacolla)

Kevin Brennan had a year to remember who was recently crowned All-Ireland champion in the Men’s Golden Masters B 40×20 category. He also won an All-Ireland title in 2025 and won several other competitions along the way.

Laois Hall of Fame

Pat Delaney (Rathdowney/Errill)

The latest person to be inducted into the hall of fame is the legendary Pat Delaney. He is the kitman for the Laois Hurlers and also a former referee. A deserving recipient of this award.

Laois ScÓr

Noel Stapleton (Borris/Kilcotton)

Noel Stapleton has been the head of Scor for the last few years and will step down from the role at the end of this year.

Rounders

Aoife Flynn (The Heath)

Aoife Flynn captained The Heath Ladies Rounders team who claimed The All-Ireland Intermediate Rounders title and now have senior to look forward in 2026. A brilliant captain and a deserving award.
