REESE Holohan gave another example of just why he is vying for the Champion Apprentice title with an expert steer on Coincidental Glory at Navan on Wednesday last.
The Mountrath teenager forced his mount to lead by the barest margin of a nose at the climax to the six-furlong handicap to cheer punters who made him the 9/2 favourite.
It was his second winner inside a fortnight for Co Dublin trainer Ado McGuinness and his 24th of a brilliant debut season.
At the end of the week, Holohan stood two wins behind the championship leader Sam Coen on 26. There are four meetings left of the season which will conclude at the Curragh this Sunday 1 November.
These next two days were to have been busy for Holohan who had three mounts in Galway today and seven in Dundalk tomorrow. But his opportunity to get past Sam Coen took a hit with today’s meeting at Galway cancelled.
His six mounts tomorrow in Dundalk are Venetian, 2pm; Gavoo, 2.30pm; Quinn Blue, 3.30pm; Ocean Echo, 4pm; Glen Breeze, 4.30pm; Mirissa Beach, 5pm and Battling Siki, 5.30pm.
