Two men were due to appear before Limerick District Court charged in connection with two separate alleged violent stand-off situations with armed gardaí, including in one incident in which one of the men was tased by officers.

One man in his 30s was to appear before the court after gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an alleged assault “that occurred at a domestic residence in the Garryowen area of Limerick city, Monday, January 19th, 2026”, gardaí said.

A woman in her 40s received treatment for non-life threatening injuries at the scene.

The suspect “was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Limerick city, was charged and is due to appear in front of the Limerick District Court” on Wednesday.

Meanwhile a man was also due before the court on Wednesday after “gardaí attended the scene of an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a premises in the Mount Kenneth Place area of Limerick city on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, at approximately 6am”, gardaí said.

“A male in his 20s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Limerick city. He has since been charged and is due to appear in front of the Limerick District Court,” gardaí said.
