Motorcyclist (50s) dies following crash in Co Cork

A motorcyclist has died following a crash with a van in Dunmanway, Co. Cork, on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at approximately 2:30 pm on the R587 near Gloun North.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The road remained closed this afternoon for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users travelling in the area between 2:15 pm and 3:00 pm, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to gardaí.
